Early Pregnancy Symptoms

Are you experiencing the following signs or symptoms

  • A missed period
  • Nausea with or without vomiting
  • Tender/swollen breasts
  • Frequent urination
  • Moodiness

According to the Mayo Clinic, these symptoms may point to early pregnancy. Your first step to be sure of your pregnancy is a home pregnancy test. You can buy them at your local drugstore at a low cost.

How Do Pregnancy Tests Work?

A pregnancy test determines if you’re pregnant by measuring how much hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is in your body.

There are two types of pregnancy tests: a urine or blood pregnancy test. Urine pregnancy tests are more common and much easier to take.

When Should I Take a Test?

We know it can be normal to want to take a pregnancy test as soon as you suspect you’re pregnant. However, try to wait until the day after your first missed period to take a test so you can receive the most accurate result.

Are Your Periods Irregular?

If your periods are typically irregular, it can be tricky to know when to take a pregnancy test. According to the FDA, most pregnancy tests can detect hCG in urine 12-15 days after ovulation for women with 28-day cycles. Try waiting at least two weeks after sex for an accurate pregnancy test reading.

At Women’s Care Medical Center, we offer confidential pregnancy testing free of charge so that you can get answers. If you get a positive result, we will assist you and answer any questions.
